What does this comparison mean?
The original 10 Gbps GTX 1080 8GB leads the RTX 2060 6GB by 15.3% in this workload, so moving to the newer RTX name is not an automatic improvement in continuous benchmark FPS. The GTX 1080 also carries 2GB more memory. The RTX 2060 instead brings Turing hardware for ray tracing and DLSS in supported software, which this comparison does not measure. Choose around the features your applications actually use, and check the condition of these older used boards. This Page concerns the 10 Gbps GTX 1080, not the later 11 Gbps variant.
GTX 1080 8GB (10 Gbps) has 8GB and RTX 2060 6GB has 6GB of graphics memory. Memory capacity, board dimensions, power connectors and the price of a particular used card are separate from this benchmark. Compare the exact item before deciding whether to upgrade.
The two GPUs in context
GTX 1080 8GB (10 Gbps)
The GTX 1080 introduced desktop Pascal in May 2016. This entry uses the original 8GB GDDR5X configuration running at 10 Gbps.
RTX 2060 6GB
The original RTX 2060 pairs Turing architecture with 6GB of GDDR6. Its January 2019 launch brought hardware ray tracing and DLSS to the RTX 60-class.

How the figures are compared
Both FPS figures come from the owner-supplied GPUsed benchmark dataset. GPUsed reports a continuous FurMark run at 1080p for its physical-card checks. The percentage compares the higher model average with the lower one using the original FPS values. Our rating uses a compressed scale, with the fastest GPU at 100; it is separate from the percentage difference. A benchmark result does not predict gaming FPS.
GPUsed reports its physical-card checks typically last 30 to 60 minutes while temperature and stability are checked. The owner supplied the model-level FPS workbook on 2 October 2026; this benchmark dataset was last reconciled 3 October 2026. Historical cards tested are separate from the number of FPS runs behind a model average. GTX 1080 8GB (10 Gbps) uses the 104-card GeForce GTX 1080 8GB family total; GPUsed has not split it by this exact variant. Full benchmark method.
