Looking to step up your gaming experience in 2025 with a budget of £1,000? At this price point, you can build a PC capable of smooth 1440p and even 4K gaming in quite a few games, while also being strong enough for streaming, content creation, and it’ll be fairly future-proof too.
By building your own PC, you’ll save money and get exactly the performance you’re after. With the right parts, you’ll be setting yourself up for years of high-end gaming without overspending.
Here’s my recommended spec list for the best sub-£1,000 gaming PC build this year.
🖥 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, 9 5950X or Intel Core i5-14600K (~£170)
Both processors bring excellent gaming performance and multi-threaded power for productivity. The Ryzen 7 offers great efficiency on AM5 with future upgrade potential, the 5950X is great bang for your buck and AM4 is very much still functional, while Intel’s 14600K delivers strong single-core performance for max FPS.
🎮 GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Super, RTX 3090, AMD RX 7900XT or RX 7900 XTX (~£500)
These GPUs dominate 1440p gaming, and can push well into 4K, and bring features like DLSS 3.0 (NVIDIA) and FSR 3.0 (AMD). The RTX 4070 Super is efficient and quiet, while the RX 7900 XTX shines in raw rasterisation.
🧠 RAM: 32GB DDR5 or 64GB DDR4 (5600–6000MHz or 3600MHz, ~£80)
DDR5 prices have dropped a lot in 2025, making 32GB the sweet spot for gamers and creators. You’ll have plenty of headroom for multitasking and future games. If you stay on DDR4, you will be able to afford more RAM, but of course it’ll be slower. If you are still on DDR4 get anything slower than 3600MHz otherwise you could be compromising your build.
💾 Storage: 2TB NVMe Gen4 SSD (~£70)
Blazing fast load times and plenty of space for your OS and a large library of games. Gen4 NVMe drives are now standard at this budget. It may be tempting to get an orginary SSD to save £20, but don’t!
🪛 Motherboard: B650 (AMD) or B760 (Intel) (~£50)
Solid mid-range boards with PCIe 5.0 support, high-speed storage, and good power delivery. Both offer future-ready features without breaking the bank.
🔌 PSU: 850W 80+ Gold (~£60)
Gold-rated efficiency ensures reliability and headroom for future upgrades while keeping power usage in check.
❄️ Cooling: 240mm AIO Liquid Cooler (~£40)
For quieter performance and better thermals, an AIO cooler pairs perfectly with these higher-end CPUs. Stock coolers won’t cut it here.
🖥 Case: Mid-Tower ATX with Good Airflow (~£30)
Look for cases with mesh fronts and pre-installed fans. Plenty of stylish, airflow-friendly cases are available around this price.

Final Thoughts
A £1,000 gaming PC in 2025 offers outstanding performance compared to builds just a few years ago. This system will crush modern AAA games at ultra settings in 1440p, handle many in 4K, and give you a smooth ride for streaming or creative workloads.
If you’re comfortable buying used or refurbished parts, you can squeeze so much value out of this price bracket. As always, compare prices and shop smart.
