A used RTX 3080 does not have one honest UK price. The 10GB, 12GB and RTX 3080 Ti are different cards, and a private selling price is not the same thing as a retailer price or an instant cash quote. Start with the exact variant, then compare the right kind of money.

The ranges below describe a limited sample of recent UK private completed sales captured on 3 September 2026. They are a dated starting point, not a guaranteed valuation or a live GPUsed offer.

A range can become stale quickly. Re-run the comparison if a new GPU generation launches, retail prices move sharply or this evidence is more than a month old.
First, make sure you have the right card
“RTX 3080” is not specific enough for a valuation. NVIDIA lists separate 10GB and 12GB RTX 3080 specifications, while the RTX 3080 Ti is a third product. The 12GB RTX 3080 and 12GB RTX 3080 Ti share a memory capacity, but they do not share the same GPU specification.

Those are NVIDIA reference-family figures. Cooler dimensions, power connections and factory settings can vary between Founders Edition and board-partner models. Record the maker, full model or part number, memory size and whether the name includes Ti. If the identity is uncertain, do not pick the more valuable version by appearance.
Four prices people accidentally compare
- Advertised asking price: what a seller hopes to receive. An unsold advert does not prove that buyers accept the figure.
- Completed private-sale price: evidence of what a comparable card sold for. This is useful only when the exact variant, condition, seller type and date are comparable.
- Retailer selling price: the amount charged for a card supplied by a business under that seller’s stated terms and UK consumer obligations. It can reasonably exceed a private price.
- Direct-buy or trade quote: the amount a business offers for your actual card, allowing for testing, handling, resale risk and margin. It buys convenience and certainty; it is not expected to equal a retailer’s selling price.
None of these figures is automatically dishonest because it differs from another. The mistake is removing the label and presenting every number as “what the GPU is worth”.
How the private-sale evidence was handled
The sample excluded faulty cards, bundles, unclear variants and live listings with no completed transaction. Where eBay displayed a separate Buyer Protection fee to the buyer, the captured seller-set item price was used rather than treating the buyer-side fee as GPU value.
For example, one 10GB card sold on 18 August for £300.11 as shown to the buyer, including a separately displayed £12.32 fee. The seller-set item price was therefore approximately £287.79 before postage and any optional seller costs. That distinction matters when a seller compares an offer with the headline total seen by a buyer.

What moves an individual card within the range?
- Exact board model: a premium cooler can attract more interest, but its original surcharge is not a fixed second-hand premium.
- Working evidence: stable operation, normal fan behaviour and clear disclosure reduce uncertainty. One screenshot is not a lifetime guarantee.
- Faults: artefacts, crashes, damaged connectors, failed fans or intermittent output take the card outside normal working-price comparisons.
- Modifications: replaced paste or pads, water-block history and BIOS changes should be disclosed. Modification is not automatically bad; unknown work is simply harder to value.
- Condition and completeness: photographs, the original box and required accessories can help, particularly on sought-after models.
- Transaction route: waiting for a private buyer, accepting an instant quote and buying from a retailer solve different problems.

A worked selling decision
Suppose you have a clean, working RTX 3080 10GB with its box. The evidence says ordinary private examples clustered around the high £200s. That does not mean GPUsed must offer £288, or that a retailer should sell it for £288. Instead, decide which outcome matters: maximum possible private proceeds after your time and risk, or a direct personalised quote for a simpler transaction. Compare the final amount and conditions, not a private headline with a retail shelf price.

If you are buying rather than selling
Check the exact card against the case, PSU and intended workload. NVIDIA’s 750W system guidance is based on its stated reference configuration and is not a substitute for the board partner’s requirements or an assessment of the whole PC. Never use an unidentified modular PSU cable because the connector happens to fit.
Compare the complete installed cost with current alternatives. An older RTX 3080 can still be useful, but age, power, 10GB versus 12GB memory, condition and the seller’s support all belong in the decision. Browse current used graphics cards rather than assuming a particular 3080 is always in stock.
