What does this comparison mean?
The 4080 adds a substantial benchmark step and 16GB rather than 10GB. A 3080 owner should compare the complete board, cost and desired games before buying.
RTX 3080 10GB has 10GB and RTX 4080 16GB has 16GB of graphics memory. Memory capacity, board dimensions, power connectors and the price of a particular used card are separate from this benchmark. Compare the exact item before deciding whether to upgrade.
The two GPUs in context
RTX 3080 10GB
The RTX 3080 opened Ampere with a major high-end performance step and a 10GB GDDR6X design. Its launch was also defined by exceptional demand; the card's technical impact is clearer than any claim about how easy it was to buy.
RTX 4080 16GB
The RTX 4080 brought Ada's efficiency and 16GB memory below the 4090. It was technically strong, but its launch positioning drew more argument than its capabilities, giving it a mixed rather than unquestioned flagship legacy.

How the figures are compared
Both FPS figures come from the owner-supplied GPUsed benchmark dataset. GPUsed reports a continuous FurMark run at 1080p for its physical-card checks. The percentage above compares the higher model average with the lower one; the score scales every model against the fastest GPU in the current dataset, which scores 100. A benchmark result does not predict gaming FPS, and the percentage may change with the benchmark dataset.
