Desktop processors
The exact text on the heat spreader is the most useful starting point for a CPU quote. Record the complete model, then protect the socket side before it leaves your hands.

Clean only enough thermal paste to read the model safely, using an appropriate lint-free method. Type the complete name and suffix shown on the heat spreader. Do not rely on a case sticker, an order title or the broad description “Ryzen 7” or “Core i7”: several generations can share those family names and have very different values.
AMD Ryzen
Record the series, model and suffix, such as X, G or X3D. The Ryzen CPU guide covers AM4 pins and AM5 contact pads.
Intel Core
Include the complete generation and K, F, KF or other suffix. The Intel Core guide explains the label details.
Server or workstation processor
For Xeon, EPYC, Threadripper Pro or a commercial quantity, use the enterprise hardware route.
Photograph both sides before packing
Show the readable heat spreader and the full socket side in sharp, even light. Mention bent or missing pins, marked contact pads, chips at the substrate edge, heavy paste contamination or a previous delid. If the CPU was working when removed but has not been tested since, say exactly that. It is more useful than overstating certainty.
The retail box can help presentation, but it does not establish the identity of the processor inside it. Photograph the actual CPU. A cooler is not required unless it forms part of an expressly agreed deal.
Protect the vulnerable side
- Use the original plastic clamshell or a proper CPU anti-static tray where possible.
- Do not let pins or contact pads touch foam, adhesive tape, loose cardboard or another processor.
- Place the protected CPU inside a rigid outer box with enough cushioning to prevent movement.
- Wait for GPUsed sending instructions before posting anything.
If the processor is still installed, do not rush removal. Release the socket mechanism correctly, lift without dragging and avoid touching the electrical contacts. We do not need dramatic stress-test screenshots for a standard quote; accurate identity and current condition come first.
What changes the offer?
Exact model, current demand, working status, physical condition, quantity and safe packaging all affect whether GPUsed can buy a CPU and at what price. Faulty processors can sometimes be considered, but normally at only around 10–15% of the equivalent working quote. That is not a blanket offer for unsafe, counterfeit or badly damaged items.
Can I sell a motherboard and RAM with the CPU?
Yes. List each component clearly and use the computer components route. A tested bundle may be practical, but each part still needs an exact identity.
Can I compare another company’s quote?
Include a current, verifiable net cash-buy quote for the same processor and condition. GPUsed can compare it like for like and aims to beat eligible competing quotes.
The useful minimum: complete model, two clear photographs, working status, quantity and packaging.
