Benchmark FPS and in-game FPS measure different workloads. How the benchmark works
About this GPU comparison tool
Thinking about an upgrade, or just settling an argument about which card is faster? Compare two graphics cards side by side, whether we have either one in stock or not. GPUsed GPU Comparison brings together 257 NVIDIA, AMD and Intel GPU variants from four years of our 1080p benchmark history. Pick a pair to see their benchmark FPS, our rating out of 100 and percentage difference. GTX 1080 vs RTX 3060? RX 6700 XT vs RTX 3070? That's what this page is for.
How do I compare two graphics cards?
Start typing in GPU X and GPU Y, then choose the full model name. Ti, Super, XT and XTX are not just decoration, and the memory version matters too. If your card has a Gigabyte, ASUS or MSI name on the box, choose its underlying GPU model for this comparison. The size and power connectors still depend on the exact card. Not sure what you have? Use our guide to identifying your graphics card.
What does benchmark FPS at 1080p tell me?
It tells you how two GPUs stack up in the same 1080p benchmark. The figure shown is GPUsed's average FPS for that workload, not a promise of what you will see in your favourite game. Your settings, processor, ray tracing and upscaling can all move the in-game number. Keeping the benchmark consistent makes the difference between the cards easier to judge.
How is the percentage difference calculated?
GPU Y is the starting point. We divide GPU X's FPS by GPU Y's FPS, subtract one and turn the result into a percentage. If X gets 120 FPS and Y gets 100 FPS, X is +20% faster. Swap them and the figure becomes -16.7%, because the starting point has changed. Our rating out of 100 is a compressed performance scale: the fastest GPU gets 100, and the rest use 100 × (GPU FPS ÷ highest FPS) to the power of 0.35. That gives useful cards more breathing room on the scale. The percentage difference still uses the original FPS figures, not the ratings.
Why are some GPU variants absent?
A GPU appears when we have an FPS figure and can confidently identify the exact variant. Similar names can hide different memory configurations or firmware, so check the full name before drawing a conclusion.
Is the faster GPU always the better upgrade?
Not automatically. A higher benchmark number tells you which card is faster here; it does not tell you whether the extra speed is worth the money. Look at the price of the exact card, its VRAM, features and power draw, and the games you actually play. Your case and PSU get a say too, so check clearance and connectors before buying. For more context, read our guide to used GPUs for 1080p, browse graphics cards in stock or ask GPUsed about an upgrade.
